At Hillcrest, small groups and ministries aren’t just programs—they’re pathways to connection, healing, and purpose. Whether you’re drawn to laughter over breakfast, quiet moments of prayer, spirited book discussions, or hands-on service, there’s a space here for you. These gatherings reflect the heart of our church: open doors, open arms, and a shared commitment to growing in faith and love together.
Bad Girls of the Bible
Bad Girls of the Bible is a spirited women’s group that blends fellowship, faith, and a touch of sass. Through lively discussion, prayer, and shared laughter, we explore the stories of bold, complex women in Scripture — and what they reveal about grace, redemption, and our own journeys.
Each two-hour gathering includes time for socializing, Bible study, prayer, and of course, refreshments. It’s a space for honest conversation, spiritual growth, and supportive friendship — no prior knowledge required, just an open heart.
The Bad Girls of the Bible group meets on the third Thursday, 6:00pm in Fellowship Hall.
Blessing Bistro
The Blessing Bistro is Hillcrest’s invitation to experience church in a new way — around the dinner table. Held on select Wednesday evenings, this casual gathering features a free home-cooked meal, a Jesus story, and open-hearted conversation. It’s a space where faith is shared not through sermons, but through stories, questions, and connection.
Whether you’re a longtime member or just curious, you’re welcome to come as you are. There’s no pressure, no dress code, and no cost — just a freewill offering to help support future meals.
Join us on the second Wednesday of the month, 6:00pm in Fellowship Hall.
Book Club
Hillcrest Book Club is a space for curious minds and open hearts. We gather to read, reflect, and discuss books that spark conversation — from spiritual classics to contemporary stories that challenge, inspire, and deepen our understanding of faith and life.
It’s not just about reading; it’s about connection and community.
The Book Club group meets on the second Monday of the month, 1:00pm in the Library.
Hillcrest Child Care Center
Our dedicated teaching staff creates a nurturing environment where children grow cognitively, emotionally, socially, physically, and spiritually. Through thoughtful curriculum, daily activities, and special events, we help little ones explore the world with wonder and confidence — all within a safe, faith-filled space.
Whether it’s story time, playtime, or prayer time, every moment is shaped by care, creativity, and the belief that each child is a beloved child of God.
Children’s/Youth Ministry
Children’s Ministry at Hillcrest is all about planting seeds of faith in young hearts. Through Sunday School, Youth Group, and special events, we create spaces where kids and teens can explore God’s love, ask big questions, and grow in community.
Sunday evenings offer age-appropriate lessons, crafts, songs, and stories that bring Scripture to life in fun and meaningful ways. Our Youth Group gathers for deeper conversation, games, service projects, and spiritual reflection — helping middle and high schoolers build friendships and discover their place in God’s story.
The group meets on the first and third Sunday, 5:30-7:00pm (snacks and refreshments provided) in Fellowship Hall.
Holy Folders
Holy Folders is a behind-the-scenes ministry with a front-line impact. This cheerful crew gathers regularly to fold bulletins, prepare mailings, and lend a helping hand wherever paper meets purpose. It’s a time of laughter, conversation, and quiet service — a reminder that even the smallest tasks can be holy when done with love.
Whether you’re a master of neat creases or just enjoy good company, there’s a place for you at the table. Come for the folding, stay for the fellowship.
The Holy Folders group meets the last Thursday of the month at 10:00am in Fellowship Hall.
Lunch Bunch
Bring your lunch and pull up a chair—this is where good food meets great company. Lunch Bunch is a relaxed midday gathering filled with conversation, laughter, and the occasional game. Whether you’re reconnecting with longtime friends or meeting someone new, there’s always room at the table. No RSVP, no fuss—just come as you are. Everyone is welcome.
The Lunch Bunch group meets the third Tuesday of every month, 11:30am in Fellowship Hall.
Men’s Breakfast
Men’s Breakfast is more than a morning meal — it’s a time for connection, conversation, and encouragement. This group gathers regularly over coffee and comfort food to share life, faith, and friendship in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
Whether you’re a longtime member or just curious, you’ll find good company, honest talk, and a place to belong. Sometimes there’s a devotional, sometimes a guest speaker, but always a spirit of camaraderie and care.
The Men’s Breakfast group meets on the second Saturday of the month, 8:00am at Perkins in Bloomington, MN.
Prayer Partners
Prayer Partners is a quiet but powerful ministry of care. This group is made up of faithful partners who have committed to lifting up the needs of others in prayer — whether it’s a joy, a sorrow, or a situation in need of God’s grace.
Requests are shared confidentially, and each one is held with compassion and reverence. As one member puts it, “Prayer is the tiny nerve that moves God’s mighty hand.” Through this sacred rhythm, we stay connected as a community — supporting one another in love, even when we’re apart.
Photography Group
Hillcrest Photography Group is a creative community where faith and artistry meet behind the lens. Whether you’re a seasoned photographer or just curious about capturing meaningful moments, this group offers a space to explore the beauty of everyday life through photography.
We gather to share tips, swap stories, and occasionally venture out for photo walks or church events — always with an eye toward seeing the sacred in the ordinary. It’s not just about taking great pictures; it’s about noticing, connecting, and celebrating the world around us.
The Photography group meets on the 4th Wednesday of the month, 10:00am in the Library.
Outreach and Mission
Outreach and Mission at Hillcrest is where faith meets action. Guided by our belief in loving God and neighbor, we partner with local organizations, support global ministries, and respond to needs both near and far. From collecting food and winter clothing to assembling flood buckets and supporting UMCOR, we strive to be a tangible blessing in the world. Whether it’s packing meals, writing cards, or showing up for someone in crisis, Hillcrest’s outreach is about showing up with grace, generosity, and hope — together.
The Outreach and Mission group meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month, 10:30am in the Library.
